You know, I was wary of playing a game wherein you basically
date a cake, but I am glad I tried it!
The story was interesting and adorable. The main characters had their strong
and weak points. And it wasn’t too hard to get all the endings. All in all, a
rather splendid game indeed.
Gameplay: It’s a browser-based game and the reader can
choose certain options along the way to reach different endings. No backgrounds,
but it adds to the charm since it doesn’t distract from the story or characters.
Art: The two sprites are lovely. The cake, which is a
delicious looking Tiramisu, eventually turns human and looks equally delicious.
The coloration of the cake transfers to the human counterpart, even the ribbon
becomes an accessory for the humanized cake. The female sprite you get to play
as is also very pretty. Pink hair, blue eyes, a cute little apron with a
chocolate chip muffin on it. She’s cute! Outside of work, we even get to see
her with her hair down and wow, it is long. I wasn’t expecting that.
Characters: Tira is an elegant yet playful character. He is
also honest and hard-working. The only downside, really, is he happens to be a cake!
Wait, no, that’s not even a downside since he tastes of chocolate and
espresso. How can that be a downside?
As for the main character, she’s a
strong, driven individual who cares for others. A very sweet protagonist. (No
pun intended, even if she does work in a bakery, heh.)
Story: A rom-com about a cake, certainly, but a well-written
rom-com about a cake. If you’ve got a bit of time, this visual novel is worth a
read. ♥
Final Thoughts: I liked this one a lot. Tira’s dialogue was
amusing and his actions even more so.
The creators mention on their original post that they didn’t
have time to make 40 cakes for the reader to ‘date’, but I am curious what
other kinds of cakes they were possibly considering. What kind of cake would you like to date? Sign me up for a slice
of Rum Cake.
Without further ado, go play A Very Splendid Otome Game~!
